Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Wheels 2U Westport?

Wheels 2U Westport is a shuttle service that anyone can use to go to and from locations in the Service Area and the Saugatuck or Greens Farms train stations. Our shared ride service picks you up at your door and takes you to the train platform, and takes you from the train platform to your destination. Download the app and try it out.

  • Where does it run?

There isn’t a specific route like a traditional bus. You download the app and request a ride. The shuttle bus will then pick you up at your door and take you to the train platform or take you from the train platform to your destination. You can only ride within the Service Area.

  • When should I request a ride to the station?

For your first few trips, we recommend requesting a ride in advance of your desired train by about 20 minutes plus the typical driving time to the station. Once your ride is booked, you will receive an estimated time of arrival at your home or place of business and be able to track the location of your ride in real time. After you use Wheels2U a few times, you will be able to refine this estimated lead time based on your own experience.

  • Can I take Wheels2U Westport to or from locations other than the train station?

To maximize service levels for commuters, Wheels2U Westport only operates between locations in the Service Area and the Saugatuck and Greens Farms train stations.

  • When does it run?

Wheels2U Westport picks up commuters on weekdays during the following hours:

    • Mornings: 5:45 am - 10:00 am
    • Afternoon & Evenings:  4:00 pm - 9:30 pm
  • When should I request a ride when I arrive at the station on a Metro-North train?

Please request a ride when you arrive at the station. Once your ride is booked, you will receive an estimated time of arrival and be able to track the location of your ride in real time. (Your vehicle may already be at the station waiting for you.) Please board at the designated pickup location. There may be other vehicles waiting nearby, so look for the vehicle number displayed in the Wheels 2U App to make sure you're getting on the right shuttle.

  • Where will the Wheels2U vehicle meet me at the train station?

    Saugatuck

On the west-bound side of the platform -- on Franklin Street or on Railroad Place near the elevators.

    Greens Farms

In the large commuter parking lot, just west of New Creek Road.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost is $2 per ride. Wheels 2U also honors the Metro-North Uniticket.

  • Can I pay cash?

The drivers are unable to accept cash. You must have a smartphone to reserve a trip through the app.

  • Can I get a weekly or monthly pass?

Not at this time. We do honor the weekly or monthly Metro-North Uniticket for train commuters.

  • Is it accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes! Our shuttle buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts and drivers are trained at helping people with disabilities.
